About Us

St Mary's Church in Whaplode is a historic parish church, the fifth oldest in Lincolnshire. Consecrated in 1125 it is known for its majestic Norman and Early English architecture, and its many historic artefacts. With an immense noble heritage, and a long-standing significance within the local community, our roots are ancient, but our outlook is modern. We are a Christian community seeking to live out our faith in service to God, and Revd. Alistair Ward welcomes all to enjoy our many services, activities, and fellowship. The church is open every day from 8.00am till 4.00pm. For the historians, and enthusiasts of church architecture, do experience our QR coded Mobile Phone Heritage Tour inside and outside the church, accompanied by an informative Tour Guide handout which is also available to provide additional background for your Tour. However, if you are not able to visit our magnificent church do enjoy our 360 virtual Tour available on-line at https://www.heritagesouthholland.co.uk/st-marys-church-whaplode/ Moreover, for a comprehensive and colourful history of the heritage of St. Mary's and its association with the village of Whaplode, please consider our book "St. Mary's Church, Whaplode - 900 years of Noble History" - available from the Church.
