River Church Marlow

Main Meetings:
10:15am - Catch up and chat time 10:30am - The approx. time our meeting starts 12:00 noon - We aim to finish, with time afterwards for more ministry, prayer and conversation. Our gatherings include an opportunity to be prayed for, a welcome, a time of sung worship, communion (monthly); a talk, which is often an opportunity to share and reflect on God; and an offering. They are usually pretty dynamic times with teaching that is practical and encouraging from River Church's large number of gifted speakers. You certainly don't need to put on your 'Sunday best' - some of us dress very informally so you are unlikely to feel out of place wearing whatever you find comfortable.
Denomination:
Pioneer
Hymns & songs:
We enjoy live worship every week.
Under 18s:
During a Sunday meeting at around 11.15am, children - newborn 'RiverTots' to school year 6 'Sub' - are accompanied by their parent / guardian to their appropriate groups where they have activities aimed at helping them to understand and get to know Jesus as a friend in a fun and relaxed way. 'Edge', for those at Secondary school, usually also leaves the main meeting for their own activities.
18-30s:
Local outreach & community activities:
River Life - On Wednesday mornings the Marlow Youth Centre is transformed when the River Life team hosts a lively community group where adults can sit and chat, and children can run around and play. The team reaches out to local residents with practical care and support. All are welcome to pop in for a brew, a chat and some thoroughly delicious cake. River Life is open 10.30am - 12noon Wednesdays in school term time. WhyCome - WhyCome is held on the last Saturday of every month at a church in High Wycombe and River is one of the organisations helping to fund and run it. It provides a hot meal and clothes, toiletries and food items for the homeless of High Wycombe to take away. Over 50 guests attend a typical session. CAP - In partnership with award-winning charity Christians Against Poverty, we aim to offer free debt advice to anyone in need of it in the Marlow area. We help anyone regardless of their faith or background and whatever their level of debt. Kintsugi Hope - 'Kintsugi' is a Japanese technique for repairing pottery with seams of gold. The word means 'golden joinery' in Japanese. This repairs the brokenness in a way that makes the object more beautiful, and even more unique than it was prior to being broken. Instead of hiding the scars it makes a feature of them. As a registered Kintsugi Hope Church Partner, we in River Marlow want to see a world where mental and emotional health is understood and accepted, with safe and supportive communities for everyone to grow and flourish. Several River Marlow members have therefore been trained to run Kintsugi Hope Groups. Food for Thought - A weekly meeting with lunch for residents at the Patches Field Retirement Housing community, Marlow Bottom, run jointly with The Lantern church.
Other activities & ministries:
All are welcome in River Marlow. We believe that 'church' is not just about Sundays, so a great way to get more involved in our community is to join one of our many mid-week groups and/or one of our serving teams.
Leaders:
We believe we are made in the image of a highly creative God who wants to make full use of the leadership gifts and abilities we possess, regardless of gender. We also believe in a strongly relational God, and this is reflected in how River Marlow is led, by a team who are first and foremost in place to serve the congregation. Paul and Anthea Wratten jointly lead the team.
