About Us

We are a friendly and welcoming church, with a diverse and inclusive ethos, welcoming everyone regardless of background, beliefs, gender, ethnicity, health or ability. If this sounds like the sort of community you would like to be part of, we would be really pleased to see you. Sunday services are led by our minister and members of the congregation. They include hymns, songs, music and prayers, as well as a reading and a thought-provoking sermon. Communion is celebrated once a month, usually on the third Sunday. We have a regular lunch club in our café and run youth and family activities. We also hire our building out to community groups. See the events and activities page on our website: lbcweb.org.uk for more details. Ours is a large church, affiliated to the Baptist Union. Our mission is to present the unchanging gospel of Jesus Christ in a relevant way to a changing world. We aim to make Worship, Bible Study and Prayer central to our life together, to follow the example of Jesus Christ in every aspect of our lives, and to help other people to know Him as Saviour and Lord. We have a number of groups of people who are responsible for implementing these aims. We have a vision of a broad, inclusive church, firmly in the 21st century, where everyone can explore and experience together the love of God in Jesus Christ in the life, witness and work of the church.
