About Us
The Free Church of England (Evangelical Connexion) is an independent Denomination that arose out of the evangelical awakening of the 18th century. The FCE produced their own prayer book in 1870 based on the 1662 Book of Common Prayer but allows for the use of modern liturgy and extemporary prayer and worship. Most of our churches are a good blend of both, drawing on the rich heritage of the C of E but also allowing for contemporary music, prayer and liturgy. We are ever mindful of and strive to accommodate those who are new to the whole concept of worship and those who enjoy the great hymns of the past. We preach peace with God through Christ alone by faith alone and are an indpendent Anglican body with a blend of the best of Episcopal, Presbyterian and Congregtional forms of government.
