About Us
Allerton United Reformed Church has existed here in Allerton since 1932 with the former city-centre Presbyterian churches moving from Canning Street and Mount Pleasant to the newly-developing suburban green fields. We became the United Reformed Church (URC) in 1972 following the national uniting of the English Presbyterian and the English and Welsh Congregational churches. As a URC congregation we are part of the Mersey Synod of URC churches and, locally, we are one of 10 Christian churches that make up Churches Together in Mossley Hill. We currently share our Minister, Rev'd. Tim Meadows with Stoneycroft URC and St. Stephen's Wavertree URC, together forming The Heart of Liverpool pastorate of churches. We currently have a membership roll of 68 members and around 20 adherents and 10 worshipping children. Our Sunday morning services at 10:00 am have a familiar format each week. The singing of hymns and songs is accompanied by an organist / pianist and we celebrate Communion on the 1st Sunday of most months, as well as on major Christian festivals and we welcome a guest preacher on the 4th (and 5th) Sunday of each month. We are particularly child-friendly with Junior Worship classes for primary school-aged children during Sunday services, occasional Messy Church sessions and Holiday Clubs. Everyone is welcome.
