About Us
Castle Street Methodist Church, Abergavenny, is compact and friendly, set in a lovely market town on the Welsh borders. Our main Sunday morning service is held weekly at 10.30am. We average thirty to forty adults and have a small group of children who attend Sunday School during morning worship. Holy Communion, with an open table, is observed once a month, usually on the first Sunday and led by the minister. On the third Sunday evening of the month, we hold a more intimate, more contemporary, Praise and Worship service at 6.00pm. We sometimes pre-plan this timeslot for a dedicated Healing and Wholeness service. On Tuesday (main market day) we serve light refreshments in the Hall, from 10am–12 midday. We have weekly Bible study ‘in person’ on Tuesday evenings. A ‘zoom’ Bible study is held on alternate Wednesday evenings (2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month). On the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month, we hold an afternoon prayer meeting in the church at 2.30pm. For senior citizens, there is a Friendship Club on Thursday afternoons, in the Hall, at 2.30pm. Every four weeks this is used for a Devotional service – a shorter format of the main Sunday service, ideal for those who cannot always manage a full Sunday worship service. All in all, a busy friendly church.
