When Freda's daughter was imprisoned, she gave up her job to look after her disabled grandson. Freda’s bills and debts started to pile up and the financial pressure caused Freda’s marriage to break up. She couldn’t sleep, was on anti-depressants, was scared to open the door because of bailiffs and felt totally alone.

Once Freda started working with Christians Against Poverty, the pressure of handling debts was lifted and the hassle from creditors stopped! She no longer lives in fear and can get a good night’s sleep. She has even been reconciled to her husband! She then went on a CAP organised holiday and gave her life to Jesus!

This is just one of the 8,322 clients we helped in 2010 through CAP’s top quality debt counselling service. Our network of 150 local church based centres relieves poverty and brings justice to those in need, so that people can experience and respond to the love of Jesus and be brought into a church family.

The charity is now a fast-paced, growing organisation whose vision is to answer the national problem of debt in the UK by having at least one CAP centre operating in every major town and city by the year 2015.

Last year we saw an amazing 404 people make personal commitments to follow Jesus and 1,066 clients become debt free.
